Herts SpLD Outreach Service (Parkside)

Parkside SpLD Outreach Service is situated at Parkside Community School, Borehamwood. The service supports 32 schools in Borehamwood, Potters Bar, Radlett, Shenley and Bushey. It is one of 10 Primary SpLD Outreach service teams across Hertfordshire which focus on developing the awareness and skills of staff when working with children with specific learning difficulties in reading, writing and maths and across the curriculum. The SpLD Outreach Service aims to empower schools to remove barriers to learning for pupils with SpLD through training and support. Please refer to the ‘Service Delivery’ tab for further guidance on how to use our service.

Parkside SpLD Outreach Service team consists of:

  • Nicki Ross - Team Leader and Specialist teacher
  • Emily Janes - Specialist teacher
  • Service Teaching Assistant - Debbie Georgiou

The Service provides a termly INSET programme which offers a range of courses to support schools in meeting the needs of pupils with specific learning difficulties. Training fliers and booking forms are emailed to schools but can also be downloaded from the Training section of this website.

The Service also acts as a local resource centre. We have a wide range of books, resources and games relating to reading, writing, phonics, spelling, handwriting and maths as well as ICT software/apps and assessment materials. All area school staff are very welcome to visit the service to view resources. Schools can also borrow resources on request. Please contact Nicki, Emily or Debbie via phone or email if you wish to arrange a visit.
